Burning A Rain Forest

  Rain Forest primeval,
Where it has lain
Abundant life supported
Because it makes rain.

Fine creatures so many
And many so fine,
Diversity so great,
There is no straight line.

But following mans nature
Our greatest concern,
To earn family wages
By clear-cut and burn.

Our sky of gray smoke,
And a milky white sun
Using crimson of fires,
Making animals run.

Our jungle now ashes,
Black stumps of great trees,
The wood of wild mangos,
Burned up from their knees.

In ashes weak soil
We urge a new crop,
And plant our sad seeds
That use just the top.

For making this living
In societal ways,
We cut off our air
And we number our days.

So future's our fossil,
If found some can sell,
And the ashes embedded
may account for our hell.
